(From Daniel Funeral Home)Lyndell L. "Pete" Hurt, age 88, of Lamar, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in the early morning hours at St. Luke's in Carthage, Missouri, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Lyndell was born May 30,1935 in Greenfield, Missouri to Loren and Edith (Daughtery) Hurt. On August 26, 1956 in Greenfield, MO., Lyndell married Judith Ann Wills. They were married nearly 60 years before her death in November of 2015. Lyndell lovingly cared for Judy for 15 years after her stroke in 2000.
Lyndell worked at Finley Engineering in Lamar for over 20 years before becoming the general manager of Craw Kan Telephone Cooperative from which he retired from in 1996. Lyndell loved playing tennis, gardening, polka music and spending time with his family. Lyndell was a member of the Lamar First Christian Church where he was involved in many areas over the years.
Survivors include three children; Cindy (Michael) Jack of Joplin, MO., Russ (Suzanne) Hurt of Lamar, MO., and Beth Shoff of Mt. Vernon, MO; 10 grandchildren, Chris Jack, Jeff Jack, Jeremiah Jack, Douglas Jack, Ryan Hurt, Chase Hurt, Brooke Booker, Blake Westbrooke, Kyler Shoff and Kaden Shoff; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Hurt; three sisters, Wanda (John) Webb, Veda Thieman, and Marilyn Marshall, along with many loving family and friends.
Lyndell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy; one sister, Vesta Jennings; two brothers-in-law, Ozzie Thieman and Wayne Marshall.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, at Lake Cemetery in Lamar, MO.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, MO.
