Clint Reed

(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)

Clinton Alfred Reed, of Dadeville, Mo, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 83. Clint was born at home on August 12, 1940. He was the second child born to Vester A. and Eva Ruth Sparks Reed.

Clint was raised in the beautiful Googer hills where he attended the country school and Baptist Church. He accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized in the Googer creek. Clint and his older sister Lee Etta enjoyed riding horses and often rode to school. He and Lee Etta worked hard around the farm doing chores.

On Saturdays they hooked up the team and wagon and went to the Crisp Store to buy feed and sell eggs. At the age of 15 he moved in with Russell and Kay Decker who treated him as their own while he worked on their farm milking cows.

He was united in marriage to Mary “Dolly” Sherwood on December 29, 1961 at the Cave Spring Baptist church in Googer, Mo. Clint attended the Hulston New Hope Church for 61 years where he led the singing every Sunday for nearly 50 years. Clint’s love for music went well beyond the walls of the Church. He loved to play guitar at home and sing with his family every chance he had.

Clint was self-employed for many years. He worked building numerous miles of fence, roofing houses and restoring old barns. He took great pride in his own farm where he spent many years baling thousands of square bales and raising Suffolk sheep and calves. Clint said one of his favorite things was when all of his family was with him working all together in the field.

Clint was also an avid fisherman and coon hunter. He placed 3rd and 5th in the World Hunting Championship and won multiple trophies at hunts across Missouri and surrounding states. He loved hunting with his favorite Uncle Herman and later enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren hunting and fishing with him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Eva Ruth; siblings, Lee Etta and Jerry Reed; father and mother-in-law, John and Christine (Ruth) Sherwood; and brothers-in-law, Marvin “Willie”, Sherman, and Nathan Sherwood.

He is survived by his wife, Mary “Dolly” Reed of the home; three children, Rachel (Jeff) Witt, Jennifer (Brian) Huchteman, and Clinton Stewart Reed; six grandchildren, Amber (Josh) Vance, Afton (Casey) Graham, Natalie (Kodie) Cartwright, Matthew Huchteman, Sariah and Shayne Reed; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Isla, and Sutton Vance, Bryson and Asia Graham, and Clyde Cartwright; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Bob) Sherwood and Grace (Bernie) Winer; brother and sister, James and Kathy Reed and Helen Wood; and a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Pemberton Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. until service time at Hulston New Hope Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
