Marvin Patro “Pat” Courtney, Jr., 79, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023. Pat was born December 13, 1943, in Bradenton, Florida, to Marvin Patro Courtney, Sr. and Eleanor “Boots” (Houghton). 

Pat was an electrical lineman with P.G.E. in California for 35 years. Pat was an avid equestrian and competed in reining and cattle competitions. He worked summers at Minarets Pack Station in Oakhurst, California. Pat loved raising and training horses. He moved to Missouri eighteen years ago and built their Ranch and House. Pat was very active in AA, celebrating seventeen years of sobriety! He also served his country in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne.

Pat was united in marriage to Michele “Micki” Hitchcock February 6, 1999, in Clovis, California; she survives.

Pat is survived by his wife, Micki Courtney; three sons, Michael Courtney and wife, Melissa, of Neosho, Missouri, Jonathan Murphy and wife, Kerry, of Carthage, Missouri, and John Dawe and wife, Rene, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; three brothers, Dale Courtney and wife, Carla, of Moscow, Idaho, Edward Courtney and wife, Jean, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Robert Waldrop of Austin, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Max, Kaylin, Caelan, Vincent, Nicolas, Kode, Jennifer, Brandon, Justin, Jason, and Emily; multiple great grandchildren; niece and nephews, Trisha, Joel, Joshua, Caleb, and Chantelle, eight great nephews and one great niece.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Eleanor Courtney; daughters, Kim Courtney and Lynn Courtney.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at The Bridge A Christian Church (formerly The Lighthouse) at 800 S. Main St., Carthage, Missouri.
