Peter Cowles

Peter Anthony Cowles, age 39, passed away peacefully at his home in Sarcoxie, MO on Friday, October 20, 2023. He was born in Mt. Vernon, MO on Friday, January 27, 1984; son of Robin (Harvill) Lynne Cowles. He was a 2005 graduate of Carthage High School. He studied auto mechanics at Ozarks Technical Community College where he received the Governor's Award. 

In 2009, he married Ellen Doherty in Wheaton, MO. They had three beautiful children, Madison, Mary, and Chevy. He loved his children and his family. 

Peter enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing, camping, working on cars, and outdoor grilling. He liked music, friends, and family get-togethers. Peter was witty and never hesitated to give someone a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Surviving are the following: two children, Chevy Anthony Cowles and Madison Riley Cowles of Mt. Vernon, MO; six sisters, Katrina (Curtis) Griffis of Monett, MO, Melina Lynne Shields of Rogers, AR, Amber Rose Salvador of Fountain City, CO, Amber Jo (Jeremy) Riley of Liberal, MO, Brandy Lee Dodson of Springfield, MO, and Holly Christine Dodson of Lamar, MO; one brother, David Boyd Lee (Samantha) Dodson II of Joplin, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Cowles; a daughter, Mary Beth Cowles; and his grandparents, Galen Edward and Mary Elizabeth Harvill.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pierce City Park in Pierce City, MO at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 29, 2023, with Uncle Mark Smith officiating. Everone is invited. Bring a dish for the potluck and many memories to share. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
