Mike McClure

Michael “Mike” Glen McClure, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, in Joplin, MO.

Mike was born May 23, 1943 in Neosho to William and Mona (White) McClure. Mike was a beloved husband to Daphnea Allen McClure for 42 years. Together they raised Cindy, David, and Mike Shane.








Mike was a proud graduate of Neosho High School and Pittsburg College – where he excelled in Track and Field. His strong work ethic and leadership abilities were evident in his success as a supervisor at multiple companies, including Fairchilds in Joplin, MO., (where he met the love of his life, Daphnea), Vickers in Joplin, Mo., The Ammunition Plant in Parsons, KS., and Superior Wheels in Pittsburg, KS.

Mike enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, a good Kansas City Chiefs football game, either at the stadium or on his TV set at home. He was a devoted father to his children; Mike McClure (Melissa), David Sowersby (Traci), Cindy Wooden (Larry), 11 grandchildren; Kerstand Tatum (Jason), Dustin Wooden, Jessica Nielson (Chris Blackwell), Jeffrey Rogers (Jacqueline), Ashley Eichman, Nathan Sowersby (Elizabeth), Raelynne Moran (Aaron), Ethan Sowersby, Hayden McClure, Courtney Shepherd (Luke), Ryan Hunt (Kelcie); 17 great – grandchildren, his best friend Lisa Simpson, and his beloved dog Mack.








Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife Daphnea McClure, his parents, William and Mona McClure, brothers, Billy McClure and Jack McClure,

Mike will be so missed by his children, grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

A funeral service is planned for Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will start at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO. Followed by burial at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA.
