Pete Marion

Alex "Pete” Marion, age 91, of Pierce City, MO passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023. He was born in Ritchey, MO on Friday, June 17, 1932; son of Alex Marion, Sr. and Della (Laimore) Marion. He was a 1950 graduate of Midway High School.

Pete married Shirley Royster on Friday, April 18, 1958, in Pierce City, MO. They just celebrated 65 years last April. He was a life-time dairy and cattle farmer. He was also a woodworker and gardener. 








Pete loved the Lord. He was a member of Van Buren Baptist Church, for over 60 years, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School director/teacher. He loved music and enjoyed singing. Pete loved his wife and family. He was so proud of his grandkids and great grandkids. He loved people. Pete talked to everyone; he didn't know a stranger. Pete will be missed by many!

Surviving are the following, his wife, Shirley of Pierce City, MO; two sons, Russell (Paula) Marion of Pierce City, MO and Chris (Kristi) Marion of Pierce City, MO; two daughters, Janice (Doug) Patterson of Granby, MO and Leanna (Stephen) Griffin of Willard, MO; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren with another one on the way; and many other family members and friends.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Della Marion; five brothers, Claude, Ernest, Roy, Avery, and Rosen; three sisters, Ruby Marion, Kate Cummings, and Esther Davis; and a great-grandson, Landon Marion.








The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be at Van Buren Baptist Church near Wentworth, MO on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Scott Pogue officiating. Burial will follow at Van Buren (Black Fox) Cemetery in Wentworth, MO.

Memorials may be made to Van Buren (Black Fox) Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
