Carol Sammann

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Carol Elizabeth Corcoran Sammann, 81, of Anderson, Missouri, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, at the McDonald County Living Center in Anderson, Missouri, following a recent decline in health.

Born on November 12, 1942, in Jane, Missouri, Carol's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the deep love she held for her family and community.

A 1960 graduate of Pineville High School, Carol remained a lifelong resident of the area, deeply rooted in the community she adored. Her heart found its match when she married Bob Corcoran on January 18, 1969, with whom she shared a loving partnership until his passing on October 21, 2014. Carol found love once again and was united in marriage to Bob Sammann on August 18, 2018.

Carol's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly in 1978 when she and Bob moved their family to Anderson, Missouri, and took ownership of the local Dairy Queen. For thirty-two years, they poured their hearts into the business, serving up sweet treats and warm smiles to generations of patrons. She had the privilege of serving her community for over thirty-five years, and loved every minute of it. In 1982, Carol and Bob founded the Anderson Winterfest Festivities, a beloved annual tradition that brought joy and celebration to the community. She treated everybody like you were her best friend. She and her first husband, Bob, employed over 600 kids at Dairy Queen, giving many of them their fist job, instilling in them discipline and a sense of pride that comes along with a days work.

A longtime member of Anderson First Baptist Church, Carol's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and an open heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her interests were as vibrant as her personality; she loved dancing to the rhythm of life, visiting area casinos for a touch of excitement, capturing moments through photography, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

Carol's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her two sons, Jeff Corcoran of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Eric Corcoran and wife, Ashley, of Anderson, Missouri; her daughter, Lindsay Snow and husband, Tuck, of Joplin, Missouri; her adored grandchildren, Erica Mahn and husband, Ryan, Zane Corcoran and wife, Bailey, Teea Corcoran, and Ringo Snow; her cherished great-grandchildren, Stella, Louis, Matilda "Tillie" and Gwenyth "Gwen," Mahn; two stepchildren, Michael Sammann of Franklin, New Hampshire, and Bobbette Devine and her husband, Jim, of Lamar, Missouri; one step-grandson; and two step-great-grandsons.

She is also survived by her brothers, Troy Henson and wife, Zelda, and Glen Henson and wife, Sunday; her sister, Shirley Boatwright; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Myrtle Henson; her husbands, Bob Corcoran and Bob Sammann who passed on June 26, 2024; her brothers, Clayton, Bub, and Martin Henson; and her sisters, Fern Davidson, Doris Stephens, and Ruby Brockman.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday evening, July 8, 2024 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to Children’s Miracle Network c/o the funeral home.
