(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Beatrice “Arlene” Smith, 82, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri. Arlene was born March 14, 1942, in Carthage, Missouri from the marriage of Robert Everett Waggoner and Velva Maysel Waggoner (Manley).
Arlene was a lifelong Carthage resident whose career spanned from stay at home mother to nearly 20 years as a district manager for Hardees ending with 20 additional years at PIC Plastics. Arlene was a Christian and enjoyed going to church for many years. She like being outdoors and enjoyed mowing and taking care of her large yard every week. Arlene took great pride in and loved her “four boys”, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much.
Arlene was united in marriage to Everett Ray Smith on May 4, 1963; he preceded her in death May 21, 1990.
Arlene is survived by her four sons, Michael Everett Smith (Heidi) of Springfield, Missouri, Steven Alan Smith (Amy) of Carthage, Missouri, Stacey Alvan Smith (Lauren) of Carthage, Missouri, and Phillip Aaron Smith (Vickie) of Carthage, Missouri; two sisters, Marie Lee and Ruth Ann Cooper; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Smith; her parents, Robert and Velva Waggoner; two brothers, Robert Everett Waggoner, Jr. and William Henry Waggoner; and one sister, Helen Nadine Ray.
Private services will be held at Miller Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Miller, Missouri.
