(From Porter Loring Mortuary)Joyce Jo Hodges, age 97 of Joplin, Mo. passed away on Tuesday July 16, 2024. She was born in Dallas, Texas at Baylor Hospital on September 27, 1926, and married George Marvin Hodges, Jr. on April 10, 1947.
She graduated from Sunset High School in Oak Cliff, Texas in 1945.
Joyce and Marvin lived in and raised their three children Carolyn, Gerald (Jerry) and Tom in Dallas, Victoria, Houston and San Antonio where she was a housewife and worked for City Public Service and Boyd Lighting San Antonio.
Joyce attended Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Tx. and First United Methodist Church in Joplin, Mo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bartus and Tressie Johnson; husband, George Marvin Hodges, Jr.; and daughter, Carolyn Hodges Tunnell.
Joyce is survived by her children, Gerald Marvin Hodges, wife Linda Hodges, Tom Alan Hodges; grandchildren, Aaron Tunnell, Benji Tunnell, Brianna Tunnell Howard, and Brock Tunnell, Sherry Hodges Querubin, Chris Hodges; great grandchildren, Haley Tunnell, Reagan Tunnell, Liam Howard, Silas Howard, Maribelle Tunnell, Constance Tunnell and Quinne Querubin.
Joyce will be buried next to her loving husband of 65 years.
