Charlotte Carpenter

Charlotte Louise Carpenter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 92, after a short battle with cancer.

Charlotte was born on June 14, 1932, in Carl Junction, Missouri, to John and Hazel McCoy. She was the youngest of five children, with two brothers, John and Neil, and two sisters, Mary and Dorothy. Charlotte graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1950, where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Carpenter. The two were married on February 16, 1952, in Carl Junction, Missouri.

In 1954, Charlotte and Bill moved to Corvallis, Oregon, where Charlotte worked to help support Bill through his studies at Oregon State University. After Bill's graduation, they moved to Portland, Oregon, where they began their family, welcoming three children: Chris, Cindi, and Curt.

In 1976, the family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. Six years later, Bill retired from Arthur Young, and he and Charlotte opened their own accounting practice. For the next 25 years, they worked side-by-side until they sold the business and retired.

Charlotte had a passion for gardening, playing bridge, golfing, and volunteering. Above all, she cherished her family. In her retirement, she dedicated much of her time to her church, First United Methodist Church of Phoenix, where she was actively involved in shopping and cooking to help feed the homeless.

Charlotte is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years, William, and their children: Christopher (Lauren), Cynthia (Don), and Curtis (Michelle). She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Meredith (Brian), Russell, Stephen (Emily), Scott, Elaine (Matt), and Henry; and four great-grandchildren: Bobb, Conley, Ivy, and Willow.

Charlotte was laid to rest in a private family service on July 19, 2024.

Charlotte's life was marked by her dedication to her family, her community, and her faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
