It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Les Higdon, who departed from this life on June 30, 2024. Born in Joplin, MO on September 22, 1951, Les leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to his family and community.
Les was a product of his beloved hometown, graduating from Memorial High School in 1969 and subsequently earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Marketing from Missouri Southern State University in 1974. He went on to have a successful career, lastly at Cummins Mid America, until his retirement in 2013.
Les will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Jan Higdon, whom he married on July 12, 1974, sharing five decades of unforgettable memories and love. Les's devotion to his family was unending, and he had a particular soft spot for his grandchildren, whom he adored.
He is survived by his wife, Jan, his daughters, Abby (Will) Parrish and Erin (Ryan) Patterson, and his sister, Nancy (Rick) Johnson. Les was a loving grandfather to Sam Parrish, Paige Parrish, Jake Patterson, and Taylor Patterson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Joplin Elk's Lodge 501. Friends and family are encouraged to gather to remember and share memories of Les.
In remembrance of Les’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Joplin Elk’s Lodge 501 Christmas Basket Program.
