Leah Sulier

Leah Bernice Sulier, age 72, of Joplin, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 in Joplin as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Leah was born August 31, 1951 in Downey, CA, one of 12 children born to the late Laverne Byron Sulier and Alice Gene “Genie” (Crawford) Sulier. She followed her dad’s military career and lived in several locations before graduating from Granger High School, West Valley City, UT. She had an adventurous spirit and was proud to have visited every capital of the United States. She was proud of her service with the United States Army where she served for 2 years, stationed in Germany.




 

She has lived in Joplin for over 40 years, she was a member of several community churches and organizations where she often volunteered. She had many friends in her community and loved all of her friends at Mercy Village, the DAV and Senior Center. She was very big on education and was always trying to learn something new. She enjoyed genealogy, making things for people, meeting new people, she also loved to travel, and was always available to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Leah was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Sulier.








Survivors include her daughters, Angela Wooden and husband Mike, and April Chew and husband Steve both of Joplin, a son, Paul Horwath, Jr. and wife Marie of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Gabe Wooden and Hannah, Gentry Wooden and Liz, Logan Reynolds and Tabitha, Autumn Reynolds and Daniel, Abbie Reynolds and Taryn, and Keith and Jossie Chew; great-grandchildren, Westin Wooden, Harley and April Horwath, and Anya and Finley Reynolds; brothers, Mike Sulier, Mark Sulier and Melissa, John Sulier and Becky, Joel Sulier and Kathy, Paul Sulier and Kelly, and Ronnie Sulier and Debra; sisters, Lynn Littler and Craig, Annette Sulier, Bernadene Winsick, Christene Johnson-Taylor, and Samantha Garrison and Bill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Inurnment of her ashes will take place at a later date in the Springfield Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
