(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Terri Marie Severn, age 65 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully at The Solace House of Joplin following an extended illness. Terri was born April 7, 1959 in Joplin to Freddie Robert Severn and Vaunda (Miller) Parker.
Terri grew up in Carl Junction graduating from Carl Junction High School. She moved to Texas for a short time and became the first female lumberjack in the state of Texas. Terri was not afraid of hard work, working in the oil fields, MoDOT and later as a machine operator. Due to health, Terri retired 10 years ago and focused on spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Terri loved her family fiercely and would do anything for them. She was a single parent and worked very hard to make ends meet. She gave up a lot of things for herself to be able to provide for her family as best she could. Terri was a rambler, a soul searcher. She was selfless and ready to help anyone in need. Those who knew Terri well knew she was a little rough around the edges. She was a straight shooter and didn't sugarcoat anything when she had something to say. Terri loved being a Grammy more than anything and was very proud of all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Terri is preceded in death by her father, Freddie Robert Severn; great-grandchild, Mallon Torix and her grandparents, Vaughn and Vera Miller.
Those left to mourn her passing include her mother, Vaunda Parker of Carl Junction, a daughter, Amanda Pendegraft of Joplin; son, Carlos Clay of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Rocksanne Torix, Kara Torix, Stormey Torix and Cattleya Clay; great-grandchildren, Leilan and Jaiyana Torix; sisters, Debbie Severn of Joplin, Monique Parker of Fairland, Oklahoma, brothers, Dennis Severn of Chetopa, Kansas and Shawn Parker of Carl Junction; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Solace House of the Ozarks, in care of the funeral home.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
