Tyson Kissell

Tyson Jerry Kissel passed away on July 11, 2024, in his hometown of Webb City, MO, at the age of 49, from a sudden illness. He was born on May 24, 1975, in Carthage, MO, to Winston Kissel and Tracy Fenimore Dunken. His family moved to Pensacola, Florida, when he was one year old and then to the Republic of the Philippines at age 4. 

When he was 9, the family relocated to Alexandria, Virginia. He graduated from Thomas Edison High School, where he excelled at Building Trades and played football for the Edison Eagles. He later attended Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Virginia, attaining certification in Construction Management and graduated with a Journeyman in Masonry. 

A proud achievement was being promoted at his first company as the youngest foreman ever at the age of 24. He continued his career in brick masonry in Virginia until relocating to Missouri in 2014. Since that time, he has been employed by Flexolaters in Carthage, MO as a machine operator. 

Tyson was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Burl and Myrtle Kissel, his maternal grandparents, Oliver “Bob” and Margaret Maxwell Brooks, and Loran Fenimore, all of Carthage, MO, his stepmother Vickie Kissel of Joplin, MO, and his beloved min-pin Anya. 

He leaves many friends and family members to mourn his loss including his mother and stepfather, Tracy and Eric Dunken of Newburg, MO, father, Winston Kissel of Joplin, MO, sister and brother-in-law, Holly and Justin Overton of Miller, MO, half-sister, Lindsey Kissel of Carthage, MO, nephew, Aarick Rosenstiel of Pueblo, CO, and long time partner, Mary Walls of Webb City, MO. Also, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends literally around the world. 

Tyson will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, his kindness, his devotion to friends and family, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A service to celebrate Tyson’s life is being planned and will be announced at a later time. All services are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO.
