Steve McKee

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Steven Hugh McKee, known affectionately to his friends and family as Steve. Steve, aged 63, was born on February 12, 1961, in Long Beach, California, and left this world on July 12, 2024, at his home in Missouri.

Steve was the beloved son of Hubert and Edna McKee, who have gone before him, as well as his daughter, Amber Dawn McKee. He is survived by his son, David Alexander McKee, who was the light of his life.

A man of diverse talents and unwavering dedication, Steve graduated from Liberty High School in Liberty, Missouri, in 1979. His career path led him to become the proud owner of Kee Colors in Joplin, Missouri, where he showcased his expertise in automobile painting and restoration. Prior to this, he excelled in the construction industry, serving as a sales consultant, estimator, and handyman.

Throughout his life, Steve touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and ever-willing nature to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Steve was a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his professional achievements, Steve faced personal challenges with grace and courage. Diagnosed with dementia in 2022, he confronted this illness with dignity, and in his final days, he was able to live life on his own terms—a testament to his strength and resilience.

While we mourn the loss of Steve McKee, we also celebrate a life well-lived, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to call him friend.

No memorial service will be held but in remembrance of Steve, let us hold dear the memories we shared with him and the impact he had on our lives. May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, dear Steve. Your presence will be deeply missed, but your legacy of love and friendship will endure for eternity.
