Joe Pennington

Joe David Pennington, known affectionately as David to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024, in Verona, Missouri, in the comfort of his own home. Born on June 16, 1953, in Carthage, Missouri, David's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his loved ones, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the great outdoors.

David's early years were spent in Sarcoxie, where he grew up alongside his siblings, forging bonds and memories that would last a lifetime. He graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1972.






 

On May 15, 1987, David married his soulmate, Daphne Hacker, and together they shared thirty-seven years of memories filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.

David is survived by his wife, Daphne; sons, Adam Pennington and wife Kim, of Golden City, Missouri and Joe Pennington of Asbury, Missouri; step-son, Brian Beaver and wife, Brandi, of Purcell, Missouri; grandchildren, Shelby Pennington, Madison Pennington, Clayton Pennington, Jade Pennington, Dykota, Pennington, Samantha Burton and her husband, Levi, and Jake Pennington; step-grandchildren Melony Hatfield and her husband, Loren, Jennifer Needham and her husband, Gary, Dawnie Reeves and her husband, Jason, and Graysen Beaver; siblings, Gerald Pennington and his wife, Milissa, of Sarcoxie, Darrell Pennington and his wife, Kaylyn, of Carthage, Stanley Pennington and wife, Mary Ann, of Sarcoxie and sister, Janice Fischer and her husband, Jerry, also of Sarcoxie.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Gladys (Long) Pennington; siblings Jerry Pennington, Joyce Pennington, and Brenda Pennington; the family finds comfort in knowing that they are reunited once more.

David's professional life was characterized by his tenure at W.R. Grace, working until the facility closed, Vaughn's Excavation, where he delivered asphalt with diligence and pride, and over twelve years as a supervisor for Doty Waste Management. His colleagues knew him as a hardworking and loyal employee, someone who could always be relied upon for his fairness and dedication. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Marionville, Missouri. David enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as spending time with his family and friends.






 

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, July 23, 2024, from 6-7:00 p.m. at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Marionville IOOF Cemetery in Marionville, Missouri, with pastor Fred Pugh officiating. Those honoring his life as pallbearers are Shane Pennington, Raymond Pennington, Jake Pennington, Nathan Muller, Clayton Pennington and Joe Fischer. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Pennington, Joe Pennington, Gerald Pennington, Darrell Pennington, Stanley Pennington, Carson Springer, Scott Springer, Calin Springer and Zach Pennington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Haven of the Ozarks Animal Shelter, Cassville in care of the funeral home.
