(From Parker Mortuary)Jesse Michael “Mike” Steele, age 67, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 with family at his side after a courageous 6 year battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Mike was born July 19, 1957 in Joplin, son of the late Edward C. Steele and Eva Bernice (Dome) Steele. He graduated from Parkwood High School and worked for over 40 years with Allgeier-Martin and Associates.
He was an avid photographer and loved collecting memorabilia associated with Joplin. He was also a gifted calligrapher. He was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, and he loved his Lord. He enjoyed serving as a greeter and worked with the children in the AWANA Program as a photographer. He was also a member of the Joplin Elks #501 where he served as a photographer.
Mike was known for his humor and always being helpful to both family and friends. He has commented that he was “very blessed”. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn E. Steele; daughter, Monica Williams (LaRhonda), step-sons, Donnie Goettel (Pam), Michael Goettel; grandchildren, Hunter Mitchell (Alexys), Quinn Goettel, Reese Goettel, Liv Goettel, Trinidy Mitchell, and Breanna Miller; great-grandson, Kreexton Mitchell; brothers, Kenny Steele (Vickie), Randy Steele, and Greg Steele; several nieces and nephews, and a brother-in-law, Bill Smith.

Memorial service will be Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Park Baptist Church with Dr. John Swadley officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Inurnment of his ashes will be at a later date in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Solace House of Joplin.
