Jackie Boykin

Jacqueline (Jackie) Denise Boykin, age 70, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Wildwood Nursing Home.

Jackie was born January 25, 1954, in Detroit, MI. She was daughter to the late Roland Boykin Sr and Elnora Boykin. For most of Jackie’s life she lived in assisted living care facilities due to having CP. Yet, she didn’t allow her condition to stop her or slow her down. She worked at the Sheltered Workshop, and she loved attending summer camp at Camp Barnabas. 

Jackie enjoyed listening to music, singing and cheering on her favorite team - the St. Louis Cardinals, and collecting dolls and stuffed animals. Jackie possessed a formidable memory. She could recite Psalms 23 and other bible verses and could mentally travel back in time to recount things others tend to forget. As to her disposition, Jackie had no filter. She said whatever came to her mind.

Survivors include her sister, Paula Hodges (Jerry) of St. Louis, MO. Brothers, Roland Boykin Jr. (Mary) of Wilmington, IL and Scott Webb (Michelle) of Joplin, MO. Nieces, Shelle Riley of Chicago, IL, La Shanna Hugley (Raymond) of Joplin, MO, La Donna Martin of Glen Burnie, MD. Nephews, Jermaine Boykin of Joplin, MO and Jeremy Boykin (Kari) of Alexander, AR. Great Nieces, Jada Johnson and Kensli Boykin. Great Nephews, ZayShon Hugley and Donavon Vantrease. Great-great Niece, Tailyn Arnold.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Pastor Samuel Nero Jr and Pastor Jerry Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Mason-Woodard on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Nurses and Staff at Spring River Christian Nursing Home and Wildwood Care Center for their loving care of Jackie Boykin over the past several years.
