(From Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home)Ronnie Ray Smith, 71, peacefully entered into the Lord's embrace on July 15, 2024 at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Ronnie loved his family, especially his grandkids. He was an ordained minister. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing, plucking his guitar, and telling stories.
Ronnie was the 1st child born to the union of Luther David Smith & Velma Shelley-Terry-Smith. He was born on January 4, 1953.
The family lived on 9 acres in the country just SE of Butterfield. It was there that Ronnie grew up, did his homework, ate his meals & played.
He & his siblings attended school at Purdy. This is the same school that his father cut out stones to help build it.
Ronnie married Clara Mae Wormington & had two boys, Russell & Joe. On April 27, 1995 Ronnie married Laura Mae Breeding in El Dorado Springs.
Ronnie is survived by his children: Joe Smith, Leon Breeding, Leslie Morris, Lesia Dee, Leland Morris; 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brothers: Jack Smith (Mary) of Purdy, John Smith (Mary) of El Dorado Springs, Frank Smith (Jamie) of Cassville, Fred Smith (Annette) of Wentworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Luther David Smith & Velma Elaine Shelley-Terry-Smith, son; Russell Smith, brothers; Willard Terry, Melvin Terry, Paul Smith & Noel Smith; sisters; Charlett Pratt, Martha Guthrie, Loretta Mae Smith, Mary Elizabeth Smith.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Arnhart Cemetery.
Visitation for Ronnie is being held from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. on Monday July 22, 2024 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Graveside services are being held on Monday July 22, 2024 at 3:00p.m. at the Arnhart Cemetery in East Purdy, Missouri.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
