Ray Koenig

Raymond Edmond Koenig, 75, of Pierce City, MO, died peacefully on Monday evening, July 22, 2024 while in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his loving family.

Ray, as he was called by most, was born on December 1, 1948 in Monett, MO, son of the late Henry and Allie (Sharpe) Koenig. Growing up on the Sarcoxie prairie, Ray went to church at St. Agnes Catholic Church. He attended grade school at Wentworth and then graduated high school in Pierce City with the class of 1967. 






Ray served his country honorably in the National Guard for six years. From a young age, Ray loved to work. He began his career with Friend Tire where he worked several years before he and his wife started C&R Grande Tire, eventually selling to Grande Tire, where Ray worked for the next forty plus years.

Ray was a family man, always wanting to be with his kids and grandkids. As mentioned, he loved to work, especially for his customers. He also loved watching and routing for his Cardinals and Chiefs. In his younger years, Ray also loved to go dancing.

On September 6, 1969 in Pierce City, MO, Ray Koening was united in marriage to Chris Hornback. They shared over thirty years together before her passing on December 29, 1999.

Raymond is survived by his daughters, Stacy Cloud and wife Kara Young, Jodie Koenig, and Mendy Dollar; his grandchildren, Cooper George, Adyson George, Kristofer Cloud, Abby O’Hara and Austin Cloud; one brother, Rick Koenig and wife Wendy; three sisters, Helen Kisling and husband Clarence; Marily Snowden and husband Red and Agnes Bruner and husband John. He also leaves his beloved dog, Sammy.








Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Chris Koenig; five grandsons, Trevor, Brenden and Kyler Koenig, infant twins; and his dog, Shadow.

Visitation will be held from 2-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Buchanan Funeral Home with a time of sharing your favorite memory of Ray beginning at 3:00 p.m. You are also invited to a dinner and time of fellowship from 4-6:00 p.m. at the V.F.W. Auxiliary Hall in Monett. A private graveside service will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery where Raymond will be laid to rest by his wife and grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association in his honor and that of Brenden Koenig, Kyler Koenig and Trevor Koenig. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
