(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Marc Henry Potter, age 65 of Miami, passed away at Integris Health Hospital in Miami on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Marc was born on October 16, 1958 to the union of Martin Henry Potter and Erma Iola (Redwine) Potter. He graduated from Baxter Springs High School with the Class of 1976, and later attended Pittsburg State University where he earned an Associates Degree in HVAC. For many years, he owned and operated Potters Cooling and Heating. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling for as long as his health allowed, and also enjoyed raising dogs and farming cattle.
He was united in marriage with Josie (Smith) Potter on October 20, 2023 in Miami, OK. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Michael Potter (wife, Lindsey) of Joplin, MO, and John Potter of Miami, OK; one step-son, Chance Bilke of Quapaw, OK; eight grandchildren; Tatiana, Marshal, Mason, Miranda, Trevor, Jayden, Samantha, and Martin; and four sisters, Michelle Swaney (husband, Greg) of Bartlesville, OK, Susan Whiteneck (husband, Troy) of Baytown, TX, Yvonne Roller (husband, Clayton) of Baxter Springs, KS, Virginia Krehbiel (husband, Monty) of Wichita, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Erma Potter; and one sister, Cheryl Crain.
Mr. Potter has been entrusted to Derfelt's Baxter Chapel for cremation. A memorial service will be held at The First United Methodist Church of Baxter Springs on Friday, August 2, 29024 at 10:00 AM. Pastor Dorcia Johnson will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at Lowell Cemetery at a later date.
