(From Parker Mortuary)
Kelli Rae Whitenberg, 50, passed away on July 22, 2024 at her home, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on August 13, 1973, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Phyllis (Davis) Straw and the late Ray Straw. Kelli’s life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the joy of adventure.
In 1993, at the tender age of 19, Kelli married the love of her life, Jay Whitenberg. Their union was one of true partnership and mutual admiration, and together they welcomed two wonderful children, Stephanie Straw and Austin Whitenberg (Wife Stephenie), who later blessed them with four grandchildren: Cael, Knox, Sydnee, and Zoee.
Kelli’s role as a mother and grandmother was her most cherished, and she instilled in her family the values of love, laughter, and the importance of making memories.
Kelli was an avid lover of the outdoors. She found peace in fishing and camping, especially at her favorite place, Roaring River. Kelli’s love of muscle cars led her to the exhilarating world of drag racing.
Along with her mother, husband, children, and grandchildren, Kelli is survived by her siblings, Terri L., Schell, Terri J., Staci, Traci, and Scott.
Kelli’s legacy of love, adventure, and family remains a guiding light for all who knew her. She faced life’s challenges with grace and fought her illness with the same tenacity she applied to every aspect of her life. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be a part of the lives she so beautifully shaped.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
