(From Parker Mortuary)Thomas Joe Simmons, age 37, Joplin, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
Thomas was born September 3, 1986 in Houston, MO, and grew up in Joplin before graduating from Joplin High School. He worked as a manager of different restaurants, most recently as General Manager of Shake Shack in Los Angeles, CA. He also did Retro Gaming on the side. He was a foodie, adventurous, and a collector of all kinds of gaming items. He loved spending time at Disneyland with his family. He was always a joy to be with and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death his grandparents, Jo Ann and Charles “Pops” Simmons, and Frank Costello.
Survivors include his father, Derrick Simmons of Duenweg, MO, mother, Nita Olaniyan and husband Ayo of Joplin; wife, Gladys Arce of Los Angeles, CA; brothers, Cory Simmons and wife Kirsten of Webb City, Devaughn Simmons and wife Claire of Crystal City, MO, Ayo Olaniyan, Jr., of Tulsa, OK, and Dominick Simmons of Joplin; nieces and nephews, Addison, Keaton, Sawyer, and Rayden; grandmother, Becky Costello of Joplin; and his fur baby, Jexi.
The family requests that memorial contributions to the Lymphoma Society or flowers be sent to the family home at 2125 New Jersey Ave, Joplin, MO.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday July 26, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Club 1201 in Joplin.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
