(From Parker Mortuary)Charley Joe Massey, passed away on July 14, 2024, at the age of 87 in Joplin, MO. He was born on March 30, 1937, in Wentworth, MO. to the late Jessie and Marie Massey.
Charley grew up alongside his sibling, Kenny Massey, who preceded him in death. Charley's life was further enriched when he met and married the love of his life, Mary "Louise" Massey, who also preceded him in death in 2010.
Charley served his country with honor in the Army before embarking on a spirited career as a minor league baseball player, playing shortstop for the Chicago White Sox. Eventually, Charley found his calling as a machinist and dedicated many years to the craft, retiring from Massey Machine Shop. His work was not just a job but a testament to his skill and dedication to quality.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO. A time for visitation will be held prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary.
