(From Knell Mortuary)Janet Elaine (Todd) Frey, 77, Carthage, Missouri, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 2, 2024, at Carthage Health and Rehab, Carthage, Missouri.
She was born on November 2, 1946, in Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of the late Louis Arthur Todd and Anita Lucille (Wheeler) Todd. Janet lived a life marked by passion, love and creativity, and a deep devotion to her family.
A proud 1964 graduate of Carthage High School. Janet's thirst for knowledge led her to further her education at Missouri Southern State University. Her professional journey as an accountant was characterized by meticulousness and integrity, traits that earned her the respect and trust of her colleagues and clients alike.
She married her high school sweet sweetheart and love of her life, Roger Slack Frey, on September 5, 1964, in Carthage, Missouri. Together they shared a life of 59 years filled with much love and many memories. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2023.
Survivors include her daughters, Lainie Hardy (Bill), Shreveport, Louisiana, and Kimberley Tucker (James), New Ulm, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Kaytlin Hardy-Kneipp (Charles), Blaine Hardy, and Julia Tucker; her great-granddaughter, Reagan Katherine Kneipp and bonus grandson, Bayne Simms; her brother, Tom Todd (Leslie), New Braunfels, Texas; her sisters, Christine Baugh (Ben), Carthage, Missouri, and Carole Roper, Oronogo, Missouri; her sister-in-law, Star Todd, Spring Branch, Texas; her niece, Kathy Smith (Bill), and numerous extended family members and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Survivors include her daughters, Lainie Hardy (Bill), Shreveport, Louisiana, and Kimberley Tucker (James), New Ulm, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Kaytlin Hardy-Kneipp (Charles), Blaine Hardy, and Julia Tucker; her great-granddaughter, Reagan Katherine Kneipp and bonus grandson, Bayne Simms; her brother, Tom Todd (Leslie), New Braunfels, Texas; her sisters, Christine Baugh (Ben), Carthage, Missouri, and Carole Roper, Oronogo, Missouri; her sister-in-law, Star Todd, Spring Branch, Texas; her niece, Kathy Smith (Bill), and numerous extended family members and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
She was also preceded in death by her darling daughter, LeAnne Collette Frey; her brother, James Louis Todd; and brothers-in-law, Robert Sikes and David Roper. Special thanks to Kathy Smith and family who advocated for Janet in her last few months in Carthage.
Janet was a very giving and generous person. Her passion for helping others was evident in her tireless volunteer work and assisting others in need, particularly with Family Outreach of Austin County, Texas. She also contributed her time and energy to organizing benefit golf tournaments, always with the goal of supporting her community. She enjoyed her involvement with the Camaro Club in Houston, alongside her husband Roger.

Memorial graveside services will be at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri, at a later date.
