Karen McCully

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Karen Sueann McCully, age 76, of Granby, Missouri, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Saturday evening, June 29, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after months of declining health.

Born on January 4, 1948, in Noel, Missouri, Karen's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and creativity, woven through the years she spent with her beloved family.

Raised in Pineville, Missouri, Karen was a graduate of Pineville High School, class of 1966. It was in that same year, on March 12, that she married her high school sweetheart, Frank Junior McCully. Their loving partnership was blessed with three sons and spanned over six decades, filled with shared joys and unwavering support. Karen and Frank made their home in Granby, Missouri, since August of 1987, where they created a warm and welcoming environment for all who crossed their threshold.

Karen embraced her role as a devoted homemaker with grace and enthusiasm. She was the heart of her home, always ensuring that her family was cared for with love and attention to detail. Her culinary skills were unparalleled, and she was known for her delicious meals that brought everyone together around the dining table. Karen's artistic talents shone through in her crocheting, needlepoint, and arts and crafts projects, which not only beautified her home but also served as cherished gifts for those she loved.
Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church in Joplin.

Karen's legacy is carried on by her husband of fifty-eight years, Frank McCully of the home; her sons, Frankie Junior McCully and wife, Stephanie, of Neosho, Missouri, and Aaron Dewayne McCully and fiancée, Sara Brown, of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was a doting grandmother to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her sister, Florence Belt of Fairview, Missouri, and a host of other family and friends, will fondly remember Karen's kindness and the joy she brought into their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Andrew and Norma Geane (Myer) Gideon; her brother, Larry Gideon; and her son, James McCully, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms.

Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Union Cemetery near Longview with Alan Brock officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
