(From Midland Cremation Society)Mitchell Wayne Whittington, age 57, of Neosho, passed away on June 25, 2024. He was born in Stella, on November 29, 1966 to John Whittington and Betty (Burr Whittington) Watson. He was a life long resident of the Neosho area.
Mitchell had a soft spot for his sweet Pitbull, Sophie. He treated her like she was family and was known for saving leftovers to share with her when he got home. Everyone who knew Mitchell knew he lived for fishing, since the time he was little. When he was a kid he would go fishing at Hickory Creek with his trusty dog Link by his side. His love for fishing continued throughout his life and he particularly enjoyed catching spoonbill.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, son Charles McClure, brother Ed Whittington, sister Shelia Turner, and two dear aunts Earlene Branick and Laura Burr. He is survived by his two daughters Kayla and Kaycee McClure, brother Scott Whittington of Neosho, sister Dianne Ward and husband Bob of Goodman, sister-in-law Martha Whittington of Joplin, his best friend Jerry of Neosho, and his nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mitchell’s life will be held at a later date.
