Thelma C Rolland, age 89, passed away at 5:25 pm, Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital Joplin, MO following an illness.
Thelma was born January 2, 1930 in Galena. Her parents were Kick and Georgia (Cooper) Vaughn. She was a lifetime resident of Galena.
She graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1947. She began working for Kansas State Telephone Company in 1959 and retired in 1989 as the office manager after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, gambling, shopping and traveling.
She was married to Clifford Bryant in 1956. That marriage ended in divorce. She later married Lloyd Rolland on May 26, 1985 in Miami, OK. He passed away January 7, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Rob Bryant, two brothers, John Vaughn and Jack Vaughn, and one sister, Rosemary West.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Shultz, Joplin, MO and Sue Conradt-Cochran, (husband, John) St Charles MO; one sister, Beverly Sills, Capitan, New Mexico; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; and her special friend, Fred.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 7, 2019 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. John Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday June 6, 2019 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
