Todd Whitehead

(From Daniel Funeral Home)

Todd C. Whitehead of Lamar (formally of Hillsboro) passed away on Sept 8th, 2019 surrounded by family. He was the son of Beverly and the late William “Bill” Whitehead.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Lea Ellen Whitehead, his children Chelsea (David) O’Shea, Katie (Russell Barnes) Rutledge, Dylan (Addison) Whitehead and Emmy; grandchildren Liam and Harper O’Shea, Ethan Rutledge and Calvin Carter and extended family whom loved him dearly. He was welcomed into Heaven by his Father, Maternal Grandparents Cliff and Muriel Cage, Paternal Grandparents Wilbur and Lucy Whitehead and Grandson Adam Barnes.

Todd was a Heavy Equipment Operator/Lead Man. He worked at multiple landfills within 36 years, but Prairie View Landfill became his second home. His love for the job and work ethic, had him going into work every morning despite his illness.

Todd made a small bucket list that included camping at Big River, attending a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game, visiting his son in Cheyenne, WY and living to his birthday so he’d be the same age as his dad was at his passing. With strength and determination, he checked them all off passing away the day after his birthday.

Todd was a nature enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and searching for morels. Todd collected rocks and could easily spot the beauty in them. What we thought was our great fortune, was coffee cans full of “pretty rocks”. Todd also planted trees and saved many from being dozed down.

In his honor, we are asking for the Gift of Trees through Forest ReLeaf of Missouri. Donations are accepted; however, for a minimum of $25 a tree will be planted in his memory. Please send donations to Forest ReLeaf of Missouri at 4168 Juniata Street, Suite 1 St. Louis, MO 63116. Include in Memory of Todd Whitehead, your name, a brief message if desired and a return address for a commemorating certificate.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, MO from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm.

On September 13, 2019 family will receive friends at Dietrich Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, MO from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm.
