Dr. William Newman

(From Ulmer Funeral Home)

Dr. William (Bill) Newman, beloved husband, father, treasured papa and gifted pediatrician, entered into everlasting peace on December 28, 2015.

He was born to John and Emmy Newman on June 17, 1948, He grew up in Texas with his sisters Diane and Susan. After earning his medical doctorate from Cornell University, NY, he moved to Joplin, devoting his life’s works becoming both doctor and friend to many. He considered his office staff family, mentoring and seeing that all were successful.

He is survived by his mother Emmy Joy, sister Diane, daughter Lorie and Debbie and son Jeff, his wife Debbie Lynn Newman and step-children Gil, Chad, Grace, Cissy and Alex, my kids were his kids and were loved unconditionally. He was papa to all the grandkids, seven boys, two girls and one on the way. For them he was nothing but fun and happiness!

Bill and Debbie were married on October 18, 2005. He loved to drive and would find a reason to be in the car. He loved to travel near and far and settled in Carthage, living in a nice big historic home that he loved and was close to the grandkids. He loved the morning and evening news, reading newspapers, going to the movies and drinking coffee. At home he enjoyed sports- go OU. He loved our yard, mowing the grass, tending the trees and flowers. He was pal to our dog badger. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and papa. He was a gifted doctor. His kindness and generosity and caring came naturally, above all he loved us and we will love him forever and always. He will be unexplainably missed, no words can explain how loved he is or how much he will be missed. His wishes were to be an organ donor. And a thank you to Ulmer Funeral Home for our private service, not to say good bye but to say we will see you later. His wishes were to be cremated.

Come by and help us celebrate Bill’s life with a memorial service 10:00 a.m. January 9, 2016 at the Villa Heights Christian Church, Joplin, MO. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home. Bill always told me “Don’t worry about tomorrow, God is already there.” Good man, good advice.
