Donald Lee Blankenship, 79, of Carthage passed at 8:42 p.m., February 26th, Friday in Lamar MO. Don was born June 22, 1936 in Carthage MO to Harold Burton Blankenship and Bessie “Tacker” Blankenship. Don was a lifetime area resident of Carthage. Don worked for 36 and half years as owner of the Blankenship Insurance Agency (American Family). He retired from there in September of 2008, then becoming a full-time farmer and rancher. Don was a member of the Mount Hope Church of Christ in Webb City, MO. Don was also a member of the Missouri Extension Council-Leaders Honor Roll and had served in the Cub scouts as a Scout Leader for several years.
Don married Grace Roene Copeland on August 29, 1970 in Mullin Ville, KS. She survives.
Don is also survived by three sons Adam Blankenship of Carthage MO, Joel Blankenship of Diamond MO and Bryan Blankenship of Lacombe, LA. and one daughter Beth Anne Woods of Pensacola, FL, one sister Betty Harshaw of Carthage, MO, fifteen Grandkids Jerl, Paige, Lexi, Mason, Raegan, Tyler, Kelly, Heidi, Jeffrey, Priscilla, Sarah, Faith, Josh, Lynsi and Evan, ten Great Grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by a sister Joy Crusa in April 2015 and also by his parents.
Funeral Services will be 7:00 p.m. Monday February 29, 2016 at Mount Hope Church of Christ in Webb City. Visitation will be prior to services at 5:30 to 6:30 also at the church.
