Mary Pauline Stricker, age 92, Joplin, passed away at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Mercy Hospital after an illness.
Mary was born April 15, 1923 to the late Ira Cheffer and Lillian Bower Cheffer and had lived in Joplin most of her life.
She worked at the former Newman's Department Store and at Joplin Venetian Blind, Inc. Mary was a charter member of the Joplin Pilot Club; former president of American Legion Auxiliary; the Joplin Woman's Club and the Tulsa Garden Club.
In addition to her parents, Mary was precede in death by her husband, Charles W. 'Buddy' Stricker, Sr.; a son, Charles W. Stricker, Jr.; a grandson, William Curry Stricker; and Jim Atkins.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Carter, Spring, Texas; a granddaughter, Lindsey Carter, Spring, Texas; her caregiver, Jeannine Coles, Joplin; and Richard Johnston, Jr.
Graveside services are planned for Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery, Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
