Margaret Louise Severn, age 82, Airport Drive-Webb City, passed away in her home surrounded by her family on February 27th, 2016. It was two years to the day that she lost her beloved husband Donald G Severn. She married Don on September 7th, 1952. Margaret was born August 18th, 1933. She was the daughter of Earl Wilson and Esther Marie Gilliam Wilson.
She grew up on a small farm seven miles from Ozark, Missouri. She graduated from the eighth grade in Ozark. The family moved to Webb City in 1948 and Margaret started her freshman year at Webb City High School. She graduated with the Class of 1951.
She worked 10 years at Sears and Roebuck and then worked as a secretary for the federal government for 20 years, retiring from the George Washington Carver National Monument in 1995.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Carl Junction for well over 50 years. She was a helper in the second grade Sunday School Class for 20 years. She was a member of the Heaven Bound Sunday School Class and volunteered with the Helping Hands Ministry.
Margaret was a legendary pie maker. She ministered to many families over the years with her pies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, one infant brother and one sister.
Survivors include her three daughters Gwendolyn Ewing and husband Galen of Carl Junction. Denise Elliott and husband T. Mark Elliott of Oronogo, and Jeanne Babb and husband Charley of Carthage. Nine grandchildren, Rhett Elliott and wife Mary. Haley Elliott, Hillary Frey and husband Nick, Steven Hildreth, Michael Hildreth, Natalie Martin and husband Jay, and Clayton Babb. Two step grandchildren, Josh Ewing and Hannah Walker and husband Zach. 8 great grandchildren, Thomas Elliott, Arden Elliott, George Elliott Frey, Molly Martin, Cash and Lane Martin, Cecelia Hildreth and Anora Walker.
Services are pending with Simpson Funeral Home of Webb City.
