Floyd C. "Pop" Gooch, age 85 of Joplin, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 .
Born January 9, 1931 in Houston, MO, he was the son of the late Willie and Vada McKinney Gooch and lived in the Joplin area his lifetime. Floyd retired from the Missouri National Guard with over 43 years of service and held the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He was a life-member of the Missouri Army National Guard and Joplin Elk's Lodge No. 501. He was a Baptist.
On October 13, 1954 he married Marilyn Ann Hagel in Joplin. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2014. A daughter, Linda S. Roberts, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include five sons, John L. Lee and wife Lynn of Grand Forks, ND, David E. Gooch of Pensacola, FL, Paul D. Gooch and wife Kathi of Carthage, MO, Samuel D. Gooch and partner Michael Engler of Bayville, NJ, Mark W. Gooch and wife Gina of Webb City, MO; a daughter, Sherry Bradford and husband Dan of Neosho; siblings Ruth Provance of Joplin, Ruby Clogston of Northwest Arkansas, Mary Lou Allison of Joplin, Robert Gooch of Carthage, MO; sister-in-law, Linda Gooch of Lincoln, NE; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Joplin Elk's Lodge No. 501 Christmas Baskets for Kids.
