Ora Lou Hill, age 92, Joplin, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch after an illness.
Lou was born May 3, 1923 in Gallatin, Missouri to the late Gilmer Barnett and Huella Scott Barnett and had lived in Joplin since 1998.
A homemaker, she had worked as a payroll clerk for Penzoil, Inc. in Houston, Texas for several years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was an active Methodist all of her life, most recently attending St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Lou had belonged to the women's club bridge group; was a master seamstress and enjoyed square dancing.
In addition to her parents, Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leon Hill and a son, Michael McGee.
She is survived by a daughter, Marta Watts and her husband, David, Joplin; a son, Tim McGee, Houston, Texas; a step son, Steve Hill and his wife, Sherry, Shreveport, Louisiana; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Cemetery, Shreveport, Louisiana.
