Mary Lee Campbell, age 96 of Joplin, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at Joplin Gardens in Joplin.
Mary was born September 2, 1919 to the late Jay and Stella Hickman in Lamar, Missouri. She was a long time member of Byers Avenue United Methodist Church in Joplin , holding many positions during her time there. Over the years, Mary was active in many social and charitable organizations.
On August 21, 1935, Mary married Earl Campbell in Lamar, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1999.
Surviving Mary are daughters, Earline Kelly (Bill) of Carl Junction and Sharon Fretwell (John) of Joplin; grandchildren, Kim Lawson and Krista Fretwell; nephew, J.C. Wiseman; nieces, Irene Smith and Ruth Ann Ballard; devoted friend, Marcia Long (Brad) of Joplin, plus many extended family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Madelyn Hickman and Evon Wiseman.
Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, February 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Nazarene Church in Joplin. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Joplin Humane Society or Calvary Nazarene Church, both in care of the mortuary.
