Gene G. Krudwig, age 95, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 6, 2016.
He was born on August 6, 1920, in Joplin, Mo. He was the son of the late Gus A. Krudwig and Bertha “Adele” (Lauener) Krudwig.
He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946. During WWII, he served in the South Pacific. He was an instrument specialist, being honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant.
He worked for Modern Floor Covering for many years, and then was self-employed until he retired at 80 years old.
He was an avid gardener and loved to bowl. He once received a trophy for bowling a 290 for his league. He was very proud to be a Boy Scout leader and a Brotherhood member of the “Order of the Arrow”. He served many years on the board of the “Turn Around Ranch”, and served his Lord in whatever capacity he was called on.
On Aug. 31, 1951 he married Anna Sitton in Joplin. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1995.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Al “Brownie”and Walter Krudwig and his sisters, Marie (Yarbrough) and Mildred (Hill) Krudwig.
He is survived by one son, James Ray Krudwig and wife Donna of Webb City, Mo. Grandson, Luke Eugene Krudwig of Chicago. Granddaughter, Bethany Ann (Krudwig) Newsom, and husband Robert, of Joplin. Also, two great-granddaughters, Corinne Lyric and Ember Rose Newsom of Joplin, one sister, Clara (Krudwig) McTavish and husband Mac of Warsaw, Mo. and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 12 noon with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at the Hedge-Lewis Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Mo. Pastor Clint Lambeth will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the V.F.W. in care of the mortuary.
