Vernon S. “Vern” Marley, age 56, of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday February 10, 2016, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
Vern was born on March 13, 1959 in Des Moines, Ia., the son of the late Sidney Hal and Mary Emma (Leonard) Marley. He married Candy Stinnett on December 4, 1981 in Joplin, together they raised two daughters. He owned and operated Vern’s Auto Body. He was a member of the Oasis Church. The ministry that he chose to serve was helping to feed the homeless. He enjoyed building and racing race cars.
Vern is survived by his wife Candy Marley, Joplin; two daughters, Camie Marley and Tiffany Marley, both of Joplin; one sister, Barbara Collett, Joplin; several brother and sister in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Vernon Marley Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.
