They were married 61 years and had 3 children; Kerry Dean (Sherri) Smith of Porum, Oklahoma, Catharine Louise (Mark) Warnky of Charlotte, North Carolina and Cheryl Ann (Brian) Frank of Webb City, Missouri.

They have 9 grandchildren; Hannah Smith, Rebecca Smith, Micalah Smith, David (Grace) Warnky, Jonathan (Bre) Warnky, Sarah Warnky, Sierra (Alex) Buckland, Simeon (Lexi) Frank and Silas Frank. They were very active in their church, Central Baptist, for 51 years where Barbara, among other things, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir and led the Children's Musicals.

Barbara started her post-secondary education at OSU and finished her degree in education and home economics at Southwestern College in 1973. Larry was able to proudly present her with her degree as he was a professor at the college at that time. In addition to being a loving mother, Barbara worked as a substitute teacher and Librarian at the Snyder Research Foundation, as well as a receptionist at the Synder Clinic.

Barbara was talented in many ways and enjoyed a multitude of hobbies and crafts. These included acrylic and tole painting, knitting and crocheting, bluegrass music and playing the autoharp. She enjoyed going to the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival with friends and was found in attendance most every year. Her family were the excited recipients of her many sweaters, socks, afghans, paintings and baby blankets over the years.
