(From Clark Funeral Home)Benedict Conrad Meier, Jr., was born on June 30, 1942, in Garden City, Kansas and entered into rest on July 5, 2024, at his home in Neosho, Missouri, at the age of 82.
Benedict served in the U.S. Army in active duty for two years and in the reserves for fifteen years and earned the rank of Sgt. First Class. He worked as a grain elevator manager for Garbey Cc-Op and Sullivan, Inc., Co-Op. He was a forty-nine-year member of the Garden City VFW; a member of the DAV and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas. Benedict enjoyed bowling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by three children, LaDawna Kae Godfrey and husband, Dale of Ulyssess, Kansas; Kevin Meier of Stella, Missouri and Benedict Conrad Meier, III and wife, Sherre of Yucaipa, California; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, with one due to arrive in August; two brothers, Richard Eugene Meier and wife, Cathy of Yukon, Oklahoma and Alan Meier of Garden City, Kansas and his former wife, Carroll Meier of Neosho, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benedict Conrad Meier, Sr. and Josepine Bender Meier; his first wife, Lynetta; one brother, Gerald Meier and wife, Sun-I; one sister, Patrica Ann Majors and husband, Val and a nephew, Jacob Meier.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
