Faye Gideon

(From Parker Mortuary)

Wanda Faye Gideon, known affectionately by all as Faye, passed away on July 4, 2024, in Joplin, MO, at the age of 86. She was born on October 6, 1937, in Zincville, OK, to the late Edward Smith and Edith (Leuellen) Smith.

Faye's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family and her community. She was an awesome cook, renowned for her waffle feeds that brought together all the fixings for memorable family dinners. Her home was a hub of warmth and laughter, where she served as a mom to everybody.

Faye's love for children was evident in her many years of dedicated service in children's ministry. She was a beloved Sunday school teacher, always eager to share her faith and wisdom with the next generation. She retired from Eagle Picher after 25 years of dedicated work.

She was fun, a bit of a prankster, and quick with a witty comeback. Her sassy nature was matched only by her big heart and her readiness to lend a helping hand. She had a knack for making everyone around her feel special and loved.

Faye's legacy is lovingly carried on by her devoted children, Mike Gideon and his wife Melody, and Amy Koeshall and her husband Kevin. She was the proud grandmother to Christopher Gideon and his wife Cheri, and Jarred Gideon and his wife Brianna. Her joy was multiplied with the addition of her great-grandchildren, T.J., Kaitlyn, Logan, Abby, Makhia, Jeremiah, and Faith. Faye is also survived by her siblings, Susie Black, Tom Smith, and Leslie Smith, who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her brothers Henry and John Smith, and her sister Mary Smith, who welcomed her with open arms.

Faye's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her laughter, her kindness, and her unwavering love will be remembered by all. Faye's life was a testament to the beauty of giving, the strength of faith, and the joy of family. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched.
