(From Parker Mortuary)Mary Jane Shelton, age 83 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home following an extended illness. Mary Jane was born January 10, 1941 in Miami, Oklahoma to the late Ralph M. and Lila M. (Stephens) Burris.
Mary Jane was a graduate of Miami High School and eventually became a Navy wife for the next several years, taking care of her family. She was a proud housewife, making sure her kids were well taken care of. After the divorce of her first husband, Mary Jane eventually married Jay Shelton in 1994 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in the year of 2014.
Those left to mourn Mary Jane’s life include two sons, Ralph Langston of Sands Springs, OK and Todd Langston of Joplin; daughter, Mary Lynn Braswell of Joplin; grandchildren, Sylvonna Singleton (Mitch) of Kansas City, Missouri and Derek Braswell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Truman and Claire; a sister, Alberta Jameson of the State of Nevada; as well as many extended family and friends.
Mary Jane’s wishes were to be cremated and arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
