Dolores Atkinson

Dolores Mae Atkinson, age 88, of Washburn, Missouri passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Aurora Nursing Center in Aurora, Missouri.

She was born September 9, 1935 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Clayton C. and Velma (Fetterolf) Carroll. On September 9, 1952 in Garden City, Kansas she was united in marriage to James Wesley Atkinson, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers; one sister; one son, Clay Atkinson and one granddaughter.

 

Surviving are three sons, Rick Atkinson and his wife Linda, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, Kenyon Atkinson and his wife Carol, of Cassville, Missouri, and Aaron Atkinson of Washburn, Missouri; three daughters, Vicki Vinson of Pensacola, Florida, Lisa Rataczak and her husband Bill of Pineville, Missouri, and Teresa Schwellinger of Washburn, Missouri; one sister, Thelda Moore of Dodge City, Kansas; 34 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

She attended Lincoln Elementary School and Garden City High School in Garden City, Kansas. Dolores worked as a machine maintenance operator for First Brands Corporation in Rogers, Arkansas making Glad plastic bags. She lived in Barry County for 48 years and was a member of Cassville Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed painting, camping, tending to her flowers and flower garden, but most of all she loved to spend time with her kids and grandkids.

Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
