Betty Matthews

Betty Matthews, age 88, of Miller, Missouri, passed away a 10:35 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at her home. She was born October 8, 1930, in Miller, the daughter of Orvel and Elsie (Costlow) McGown.

Betty was a 1948 graduate of Miller High School. She was a homemaker and worked as a cook for the Miller School District for 20 years and was a member of the Round Grove Baptist Church.

On October 7, 1950, she married Bob Matthews, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Betty is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bob; children, Debbie Lane of Carthage, Missouri, Donna Rodrock, Joe Matthews and Darren Matthews, all of Miller; three grandchildren, Billy Rodrock, Brandi Carver and her husband, Darren and Michael Wade Rodrock; five great- grandchildren, Taylor Rodrock and his wife, Aspen, Lilli Hickey and her husband, Darrian, Austin Rodrock, Grayson Carver and Drake Carver; one great-great grandson, Payton Hickey; one sister-in-law, Anabelle Butler of St. Charles, Missouri and several nieces, nephew and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Orvel and Elsie, and son-in-law, Mike Rodrock.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to Brandy Matthews for helping care for Betty, and thanks to Avalon Hospice of Carthage.

A graveside service, under the direction of the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, in Miller, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Goss Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in the funeral home chapel.
