Frances Lou Ava Heiniger, 85, of Carterville, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019.
Frances was born on June 16, 1933, in Webb City, Missouri, one of four children born to the late Roy and Velma (Scott) Hedgcorth. She was raised in Carterville and was a 1951 graduate of Carterville High School. Frances married her high school sweetheart, Robert W. “Bob” Heiniger, on October 22, 1950, and together they shared 67 years of marriage before his passing on January 4, 2018. They were members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Webb City.
Frances had a great love for her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of all of them and their accomplishments. If she had one great passion, it was Christmas. She had Christmas decorations galore, loved giving gifts, baking cookies, and making and gifting holiday ceramics. She loved the family event on Christmas but never lost sight of the main reason for the season and her faith.
Frances was a homemaker, raising her children and being very involved in their activities. As example, she started the Carterville Cub Scout Troop and led that for the duration of her boys’ involvement. She enjoyed bowling and working in the yard. Her artistic talents led her to enjoy crocheting and making ceramics. They were also actively involved in the Joplin Moose Lodge.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jeffrey; two grandchildren, Emilee Heiniger and Brandon Cleveland; and two brothers, Dean Hedgcorth and Dale Hedgcorth.
Survivors include her four children, Barbara Eggers (Greg) of Prescott, Wisconsin, Robert Heiniger, Jr., (Judy) of Joplin, Michael Heiniger (Anita) of Webb City and Douglas Heiniger (Kimberlee) of Joplin; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Dean (Ivan) of Joplin; brother-in-law, Jerry Heiniger (Ann) of Powersite, Missouri; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin with Pastor Kyle Beverlyn officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Growth Fund in care of the mortuary.
