Mary Nadine January, age 91, of Shell Knob, Missouri passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Lacoba Homes in Monett, Missouri.
She was born April 12, 1923 in Augusta, Kansas the daughter of John C. and Nettie (Wilhite) Powers. On February 2, 1946 in Emporia, Kansas she was united in marriage to James Calvin “Jim” January, who preceded her in death on June 5, 2012. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one sister and four brothers.
Surviving are one son, John C. January and his wife Amy of Kansas City, Missouri; three daughters, Gemey Hobson and her husband, Lynn of Surf City, North Carolina, Missy DeWeese and her husband, Joe of Anderson, Missouri and Angela Parker and her husband, James of Leon, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Jack, Joe and Molly Kate January, Stacy Hobson, Kasey Harrison, Joe and Joshua DeWeese, Randi Stark and Jeff Wicke and nine great grandchildren, Gunnar and Wylie DeWeese, Jillian Stark, Conner and Caylee Hobson, Abigayle and Lilly Harrison and Anna and Bonnie Wicke.
Mary grew up and received her education in Augusta, Kansas, where she graduated from high school. For several years she was an executive secretary at Beechcraft Aircraft. In 1989 she moved from Clearwater, Kansas to Shell Knob to make her home. Some of her favorite pastimes were golfing, fishing, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
