Royal Thomas Elliott, age 85, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, May 21 at Wildwood Ranch. He was born August 2, 1933, and was the son of the late Stephen Howard and Aretha Mae Elliott.
A 1951 graduate of Jasper High School, Tom loved football, baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals, farming, and Ilene Millicent Goss. They were married August 31, 1952, at Jasper Methodist Church and farmed together for years upon Tom’s return from the Army and his service in the Korean War. Ilene preceded him in death on March 3, 2008.
He was a member of the Jasper and Carl Junction Masonic Lodge and achieved recognition for 50 years of membership in 2009. He also belonged to the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and was a long time member of the Jasper VFW serving as Post Commander in 1961. And given his love for people he was well suited to also be an agent for Cameron Mutual Insurance Company and Jasper County Mutual for over 50 years.
Survivors include two sons, T. Mark Elliott and wife Denise and Eric Elliott of Nashville,TN.; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jewell Elliott; and sister-in-law,Eula Durman and husband, Paul.
In addition to Ilene he was preceded in death by brothers, Russell and Steve; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend love and thanks to the staff of College View Manor and the staff at Wildwood Ranch Rehabilitation and Senior Living.
Services will be held on Friday, May 24 with visitation at Simpson Funeral Home of Webb City, Mo from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and a graveside service following at 1:00p.m. at Paradise Cemetery in Jasper, Mo.
