Howard C. Bailey, age 90, passed away at 3:08 pm, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at his home after a short illness.
Mr Bailey was born March 11, 1929 in Joplin, Missouri. His parents were Harry A and Pearl J (Oldfield) Bailey.
He was raised in Joplin. He served in the U S Army from 1950 – 51. In the late 60’s he moved to California. While he lived in California he worked at Weiser Lock and loved to fly his plane.
He enjoyed going to the race track and riding down Hollywood Blvd. He returned to Joplin in 1973. He owned and operated Windsor Tank Company in Galena, KS. Howard had a pilot license. He was a historian and a person that never forgot a memory. He also enjoyed working on antique cars.
He was married to Alberta Lee Atkinson on July 12, 1963 in Miami, OK. She passed away Oct 4, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen Yust, and 3 brothers, Robert Bailey, George Bailey and Harry Bailey.
Surviving is his daughter, Anne Wallace (Kevin) Carl Junction, MO; one step-son, Richard Daniels, Joplin, MO; 2 sisters, Thelma Koval, and Margie Messinger, both of Joplin; and 4 grandchildren, William Lee Grant (Breanna Perkins), Ashley Marie Grant, Cody Lee Daniels, and Kyler Wallace.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
