Stanley Max Ford, age 73, of Wheaton, MO, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. He was born September 1, 1945 in Wheaton, MO the son of Stanley S. and Katherine (Plancheon) Ford.
He was a 1963 graduate of Rocky Comfort High School. Max attended Crowder College and Missouri State University prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army. He then served in the Missouri Army National Guard 203 Engineer Battalion.
He loved his family. Most of his life he ran a dozer and did dirt work, but he also loved being a cowboy and his cattle herd. He was a member of the Barry County Sheriff’s Posse and former President of the Wheaton Saddle Club. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Max was an avid sportsman. He loved hunting of all kinds, especially deer and quail hunting in the fall. Some of his greatest memories were going to Colorado elk hunting with friends. When he was a teenager, he began playing golf. This was a passion that he carried with him throughout his lifetime. He also loved baseball, playing in high school and college. His love of St. Louis Cardinal baseball was shared with his dad.
On December 20, 1998 he married Donna Royer-Elliott at her parent’s home in Loup City, Nebraska. She survives. He is also survived by children, Marcia and her husband Joe Himes, Lewis and his wife Deanna Royer; eight grandchildren: Clayton and Bekah Ray, Byron Himes, Sammy Himes, Nicholas Clifford, Logan Clifford, Hayden Royer, and Mallory Royer; two great grandchildren: Lylah and Wade; special cousins: Tim and LeeAnn Clapp, Peggy Nicholes, Wendy and Joyce Long, Vicky and Mike Moriarty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Katherine Ford, grandparents and one granddaughter, Addison Royer.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Wheaton United Methodist Church, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Roger McKee will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be at Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
