(From Midland Cremation Society)Franciscus "Frank" Theodorus Naaykens, 90, of Joplin , went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 26th 2024.
Frank was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on April 12, 1933 to Franciscus and Christina (Van Wintershoven) Naaykens, Frank was one of two sons and eight daughters.
Frank is survived by Adriana "Janie" (Verhaar), his wife of 69 years. They together emigrated to United States for a better future for their two sons Frank Jr and Joe.
Surviving children are Frank (Halie) Naaykens Jr. and Joe (Chris) Naaykens
Two granddaughters, Cassandra (Josh) Estes and Jessica Naaykens
One grandson Levi Naaykens
Lastly two great-granddaughters, Adriana and Evey. All of Joplin
Also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cora and Denny Dukes of Carl Junction, several nieces and nephews in the Netherlands and the USA.
Preceded in death by his mother and father, eight sisters Chris, Hennie, Ann, Nellie, Bep, Maria, Maria, Adda and one brother Pete. Lastly preceded by his brother-in-law Joe Verhaar Sr and sister-in-law Sue Verhaar.
Frank served in the Dutch Army before immigrating to the United States in 1960. Growing up in his father's business in Rotterdam, he learned the trade as a Meat Cutter, after arriving in the United States, continuing the trade, as a Union Meat Cutter up to retirement.
After retirement Frank and Janie together operated the Elaine Powers Figure Salons and Fluttering Fashions Women's Dress Boutiques. Later became an antique buyer nicknamed "Sanford", and which displaying and selling antiques through a few booths setup at Southside Antique Mall in Joplin. Frank always was a character, proud of his family. Always creating and repairing items. Had a special way of fixing things. He had a special name to remember everyone by. Always had a good laugh. He will forever have a special place in our hearts.
No service is planned per his wishes.
